What's Truly Important

I got such a kick out of this.

I have an app for tracking timelines. It can be used for all sorts of different things, but it's mostly used by writers who are writing epic novels and need to keep track of characters and when things happen within the epic, etc. There's a Facebook user group for this app, which doesn't have much activity, but this morning there was this post:

Does anyone know of a way to have Multiple Calendars in a Project?

I have three planets I want to each have their own calendar, but I want to see how their dates correlate to Earth time.

They all use the Earth's time/day/week/month, but their year 1 is set at different times based on specific events for that planet.

...I'm using a spreadsheet right now, but I got it all screwy trying to connect the timelines years to each other. They all use the Earth's time/day/week/month, but their year 1 is set at different times based on specific events for that planet.

I just loved this. Let's see -- this guy (obviously a science fiction or fantasy author) could could be sitting at his computer and...

*Worrying about which country the United States is next going to war with (as though his worry is going to help anything)

*Worrying about which politician has most insulted another politician and what the fallout is going to be (as though his worry is going to help anything)

*Worrying about his neighbor's missing cat. (As though his worry is going to help find the cat.)

*Worrying about the ozone layer over the Earth. (As though his worry is going to fix it.)

I mean, he could be worrying about, literally, a thousand things in the name of being a proper, concerned citizen. But no, he's worried about his make-believe planets, and how he can line up their make-believe timelines for whatever make-believe epic he's currently writing.

I am so on board with this guy.

Of everyone I'm going to have some kind of contact with today, however distantly, this guy is probably going to take the prize for the being the one that does the most benefit for the future of All That Is. He's obviously very creative, and he's thinking about how he wants things to be, rather than how things are. He just needs to get past the issue of how to track all his timelines. Then he can delve into his world of make-believe where anything is possible.
