Now in the third season of Yellowstone, they actually killed a guy via hanging.
The first hanging they did in the finale of the first season, they let the guy go after he gave them the information they wanted.
This time, they again threatened hanging until they got the information they wanted from an adversary. Yet, once given the information, they went ahead and hanged him -- oh wait, first they cut the brand of loyalty out of his chest, because he'd long ago proven he couldn't be trusted and therefore undeserving of the brand.
This is almost too much. The show takes place in modern times, and the good guys feel justified in hanging people. Any act is internally justified if the purpose is to preserve the ranch and the people on it....
