I heard from an eager reader of the Adventure series.
She wanted to be sure that another story was coming since it had been awhile, and I tried to assure her that I had every intention of continuing to write, however long the gap might be between stories. In fact, I expect to have the newest posted by next weekend.
She's old enough to remember Secretariat and been a racing fan back then, so we had a little discussion about him. She referenced memory of "steam coming out of his nose", and assumed it was from his 31-length triumph in the Belmont Stakes that completed the Triple Crown. But I knew instantly what race she meant, and it was, instead, Secretariat's final start in Canada, where it was a cold autumn day at Woodbine. It really is a lovely video, despite the lack of modern sharpness. Most notable, during the final stretch run of his career, are the fans jumping the grandstand rail, and running across the dirt track to cheer him on, as he headed for the finish line on the inner turf course.
