I got such a chuckle out of this.

It's open to interpretation as to whether "Your Song" was written "just for you" (to Elton John by Bernie.) I'm sure both men would/have vehemently deny it, and it's been said that it was just intended to be a generic love song. But the way that scene plays out in the movie, it's got to be one of the powerful platonic love scenes in motion picture history.

I did come across a print interview from around 1999 where Elton said that whenever he'd asked about who "Your Song" was to, that Bernie wouldn't give any particular answer "and would get defensive". Statements like that just add to the intrigue, lol.

Anyway, I think the scene in the movie was quite a gift, in that it can be interpreted so many different ways.

I did see the movie again today and enjoyed it quite a bit more than the first time. Actually, I wasn't even sure I thought it was particularly terrific when I left the theater after the first viewing; it's just that I realized, hours later, that I hadn't stopped thinking about it and couldn't seem to focus on much else. That was a clue.
