I don't remember the last time I cried in a theater.

Elton John and Bernie Taupin 1969 Pre-Fame

Watching a very young Elton John figuring out the music to the just-written "Your Song" lyrics by Bernie Taupin, and both seeming to recognize that something profound was taking place, was quite a moment in the movie. Plus, it took me back to when I was a teenager and, having recently gotten my driver's license, was able to go out independently and ride a horse, Baron, that I was leasing. I took him out on a road in the suburbs, on a drizzling day, and sang "Your Song" to him. Feelings of happiness were so fleeting back then, and I felt so fortunate to have those moments of just me and him, out on a ride.
