Men Vs Women

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

I've recently become reacquainted with how differently the genders can perceive the same event.

I own microshares in over a dozen racehorses, and each horse as its own Facebook page. It's pretty incredible how different the comments are on various events when broken down by gender.

Things male shareholders (never women) will say:

"The jockey rode a terrible race! What was he thinking?"

"The jockey didn't have her standing squarely in the gate before the start."

"The horse may have won, but his speed figure is slower than other horses that have won similar types of races."

"This horse has run two poor workouts in a row. She'll never amount to anything. Who wants to buy my share?"

"The trainer should have put this horse in a longer race. Stupid to just race him at six furlongs when he always runs best at the end."

" Is this horse even alive? Seems like we haven't had any updates in a while."

"What? Geld him so he's better behaved? Sheesh, give him a chance before taking his manhood!"

Things female shareholders (and a few men) will say:

"He tried really hard! So proud of him!"

"It was just her first race, to get some experience under her. She'll get 'em next time."

"He'll run faster speed figures when he's got better competition to challenge him."

"Some horses just run slow workouts in the mornings. What matters is how he'll run in the afternoon."

"He'll do even better when he's put in a longer race."

"Can we get some recent pictures of our horse, please? When are t-shirts going to be available with our horse's name on it?"

"Gelding him is a good plan. It'll help keep his mind on racing rather than on the fillies."

Men are so results oriented, and they are much faster to brand a horse, or its surrounding people, as incompetent. They're quick to find fault in others. Women lean much more toward appreciating whatever good can be found in a situation.

However, men get sentimental really fast when it comes to castration. Women aren't bothered by it.
