Falls At Low Hip

Or better yet, at mid thigh.

When it comes to clothing, call me Whoopi Goldberg. I believe in super comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.

For me, tops can be tough, because I'm very large-chested. I almost never wear a bra, unless I'm going to visit a client or family dinner, so I learned a while back to stop buying button shirts, unless they're purposely made to be overly-large, presumably with something like farm work in mind. Those buttons across the chest are just too tight, no matter what size I purchase.

I've been buying all my clothing from LL Bean for well over a decade now. They're always super soft, tend to fit, and are easy to return the rare times I make a mistake. When I look through their catalog for anything upper body, I always look for the phrase "falls at low hip". Usually, that's something called a tunic. "Falls at mid thigh" is even more appealing, though there aren't many selections. I do buy the much more common "falls at hip", but after a washing or two, I feel like I'm always trying to pull the bottom hem down lower. As such, I can wear something for weeks without washing it. Since I'm at home most of the time, stuff just doesn't get that dirty or grimy.

I reached the conclusion last summer, after donating four large garbage bags of pantsuits that I'd almost never worn, that I might pretty much be done with buying clothes the rest of my life. I'm not out and about that much. And I wear the same thing over and over around the house -- a few items for warm days, a few for cold -- and wash them and wear them again. I just need one top and one bottom for each season around the house. Eventually things wear out and then I do buy something new.

Or sometimes, I'll buy something just because I want something fresh and new.
