Eagerly Awaiting Season 2

Updated: Apr 25, 2019

Re-watching season 1 was a lot of fun.

Siblings Jamie and Beth Aren't Adverse to Slugging Each Other

Funniest Things In Season 1

Beth telling brother Jamie, before dropping her robe to get in a horse trough naked, "You'd better turn around. I'm not in the mood to explain why we don't have the same pee-pee."

Patriarch John Dutton tells a Japanese tourist, who is appalled at one man owning so much land and says Dutton should share it, "This is America. We don't share land."

Whenever Beth calls brother Jamie, his cell phone plays eerie gothic music.

When Beth tells Jamie that he's no longer the attorney for the family, and therefore she's taking his ranch-related access away, she happily says, "You can't undo family, Jamie, but we can take your Gold card."

Most Appalling Things in Season 1

Patriarch John Dutton has a rather laid back and mild mannered way of being in the world, but he's never said a kind word to any of his children. But offers plenty of criticism in his soft-spoken way. Plus, he's agreeable to cold blooded murder when it's for the sake of the ranch.

Siblings Beth and Jamie are physically violent with each other. They slug each other. I mean they're, like, 30ish. And full of anger. One of the actors pointed out that if they didn't care about each other, they wouldn't bother being so angry with each other. Well, okay, but there's plenty of other ways to care about another person. You know?

Most Emotional Moments in Season 1

When Beth, who has good reason for hating and being afraid of horses, is helped by the new wrangler in understanding how a horse feels her every emotion. That's a break-through and she learns to trust her mount. That scene always makes me cry.

When after one of their violent eruptions while driving in a pickup truck, Beth slowly and succinctly explains to Jamie what "real loss" is.

Most Amazing Behind-the-Scenes Fact

The actress who plays Beth Dutton, Kelly Reilly, is British. Huh??? There's no trace of a British accent in her scenes.
